The magnification of a microscope refers to the product of the magnification of the eyepiece and the objective lens. What is magnified is the length or width of the object image. For example, the magnification of the eyepiece is 10 times and the magnification of the objective lens is 40 times. The magnification of the microscope is ═10×40═400 times.

1. Optical magnification refers to the magnification factor of the object we observe through the microscope eyepiece. The calculation method of optical magnification is relatively simple, that is, objective lens magnification * eyepiece magnification.

For example: To calculate the magnification of a stereo microscope, the objective lens of a continuously variable stereo microscope is usually 0.7-4.5 times. In the case of a 10x eyepiece, the total magnification of this microscope is 7-45 times.

The calculations for biological microscopes and metallographic microscopes are simpler. The general objective lens configuration is 4x, 10x, 40x, and 100x. The conventional eyepiece configuration is 10x, and there are also 16x, 20x, etc., as long as the eyepieces are Multiply it with the magnification of the objective lens to get the total magnification.
